Hit the Road

Grant County has always been a popular destination for mountain biking enthusiasts highlighted by the 24 mile long North Fork Mountain Trail. However, road cyclists have learned that the winding and scenic roads and trails in the area make for fabulous days on their bikes.

Just north of Petersburg beginning from the Foreman Center parking lot on Patterson Creek Road you can take different route directions for a 10, 15, 20, and 25 mile rides, all of varying difficulty.

Smoke Hole Road is a popular destination for local road cyclists. You can leave your vehicle at the parking lot just off of Route 220 and head 10 miles to Shreve’s Store or add 5 more miles to get to Big Bend Campground. These rides include 1,000 feet of elevation change.

The town of Petersburg is also a hub for road cyclists. the town has embraced the cycling community and invested in trails in and around the town. The Main Street to the Mountains program offers 7 different trails all beginning in downtown Petersburg.
