NRocks Outdoor Adventures

Imagine standing on a suspension bridge strung 150 feet off the ground between two razorback edges of a rock formation high in the mountains of West Virginia. Treetops swaying beneath you as you take one shaky step. This bridge and more await the adventurous at NRocks Outdoor Adventures in Circleville, WV.

Visitors come from all over the country to challenge the Via Ferratta or “iron road” course for three to five hour excursions through Nelson Rocks Preserve. The course is a series of epic trails and climbing rock faces using steel rungs. Don’t worry, you are always safely hooked to an anchored safety cable that runs the entire course. Via Ferattas offer a fantastic way for inexperienced adventurers to experience the thrill of rock climbing.

NRocks opened in 2002 and is the only Via Ferratta course in West Virginia. Nelson Rocks is located just 10 miles south of the more famous climbing area of Seneca Rocks. The unique rock formation rises over 800 feet above the valley floor and is comprised of two razorback “Fin” ridgelines of Tuscarora Quartzite rock. It is absolutely one of the most beautiful places in West Virginia.

In addition to the Via Ferratta, you can try your hand at ziplining. NROCKS’s North Fork Valley Canopy Tour was the first of its kind in this part of West Virginia and is still the longest, most scenic in the region. The course features 12 zip lines as long as 680 feet in length, and 80 feet in the air, 3 sky bridges and a 40 foot rappel.
